Listening to & taking part in the Nativity story, walking to Bethlehem as we sung ‘Little Donkey‘ & played our instruments (beautifully but noisily), singing a fun Christmas version of ‘Wheels on the Bus‘, decorating candles to take home, blowing bubbles, eating satsumas & Santa cookies …. & smiling & laughing a lot!
- Friday Fellowship
Friday Fellowship’s Christmas celebration with a Bring’n’Share supper. Friday Fellowship is an opportunity for ladies to meet together once a month to share food and faith.
- Coffee Connection
Coffee Connection’s Christmas celebration with gluhwein, mince pies, sausage rolls, tea, coffee & biscuits.

- Friday Fellowship is held on the second Friday of each month at 6:30 pm.
- Armistice Centenary
After our Benefice Service of Remembrance at St Mary’s, Bettws, bells were rung at each of the seven churches to celebrate the Centenary of the Armistice. The photos depict St Mary’s Church, Llanfaredd, and the ringing of the bell there by its Church Warden, Norman Tyler, and a young parishioner.
- Service of Remembrance
The names of local residents & a German air crew who had lost their lives in service during both World Wars were read out. The artwork was created by local children at Franksbridge School.
- All Souls Service
This year, the Benefice’s All Souls Service was held at St Mary’s Church, Bettws.
- Charity Concert
A wonderful evening that raised more than £1500 shared equally between Hope House and Colwyn Benefice
This beautiful patchwork bedspread, hand-stitched by Ann Tyler, was one of the amazing prizes donated by local residents.
- Helping the Homeless Wales
Children & parishioners at Story Time and Cregrina’s Sunday service helped decorate and fill 10 shoeboxes for homeless people in Wales. The shoeboxes were filled with woollen items & vests, toiletries, snacks, notebooks, pens & vitamins. Story Time is held on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 2:30 at St Matthew’s, Llanelwedd. Cregrina’s services on the 2nd & 4th Sunday’s have children’s activities during the service.
- Charity Shop
Once again, parishioners were extremely generous with their goods and time in supplying and running the Charity Shop in Llandrindod Wells for a week. Together, we raised essential funds to support Colwyn Benefice.
- Fun Cricket & BBQ
The sun might have been intermittent but nothing could deter the high spirits & excitement of Fun Cricket played by parishioners and children from across the Benefice at Franksbridge School’s playing fields.
- Cregrina Church Coffee Evening
This annual Coffee Evening in aid of St David’s Church, Cregrina was, as always, great fun. Our thanks to everyone for their support.
- Hundred House Show
Colwyn Benefice’s Children’s Craft Tent was a creative hub at Hundred House Show. The delightful children thoroughly enjoyed painting, beading, sticking and colouring.

Held at 6:30 pm on the second Friday of each month, Friday Fellowship is for ladies of all ages to meet new friends & old, chat, eat, share & encourage each other in their faith.

Sunday 8 July was a very special day for Chloe, Keegan, Rhys and Vicky-Lynn as they were Confirmed by John Archbishop of Wales and Bishop of Swansea at St Matthew’s Church, Llanelwedd.

- ‘Celebration’ Flower Festival
The 2-day Flower Festival at St Matthew’s Church, Llanelwedd was a joyous delight of colour and perfume. Each of the vibrant and artistic displays focussed on something we can be grateful for and celebrate today. The Festival concluded on Sunday evening with a heart-lifting Songs of Praise led by The Bracken Trust Singers.
- Afternoon Tea at the Rectory
A truly wonderful, sun-filled afternoon when parishioners – from the very young to the quite old (!) – gathered together to enjoy a scrumptious cream tea and sport a fantastic array of hats.
- Story Time at St Matthew’s Church, Llanelwedd at 2:30 every third Thursday of the month. May’s session included floating handmade boats as we listened to ‘Jesus Calming the Storm’.

- Service to Celebrate & Give Thanks for Rev Linda’s First Year with Colwyn Benefice. The service, during which the children made an enormous vine covered with the 9 Fruits of the Spirit & the names of the congregation, was followed by a Bring & Share Lunch.

The heaviest snowfall since 1982, and the most amazing snowdrifts.
Sincere thanks to everyone who took part in or attended our Christmas concert. The concert raised £240 for the adult carers group in Llandrindod, which is part of the registered charity Credu that supports unpaid carers of all ages. All money goes directly to the members of the group to use to improve their quality of life and give them a little ‘TLC’. Some of the parishioners of St Bridget’s Church, Llansantffraed, who helped organise the concert, are pictured.
After Snow Sunday on 10 December (see ‘Snow’ page) came Snow Monday with brilliant blue skies & sunshine followed by minus 10 during the night. These photos were taken in Glascwm on Snow Monday.

‘Walk With Us’ Charity Walk
Now in its 3rd year, the chosen charity for this year’s walk is The Bracken Trust, which support cancer sufferers & their families in Powys.

The Royal Welsh Show
Rev Linda Watson, gold-medal winning Nigel Hewitt-Cooper & beagle ‘Keira’ at the Royal Welsh Show, Llanelwedd. Nigel won his 17th Gold Medal this year.
